Romantic Suspense/Psychological Thriller
Date Published: September 2018
Grace followed the rules. She always played it safe and never put her heart in jeopardy. Until the night she met Ryan. She’d never imagined that she could connect with an alpha male like him. Giving herself to him as he’d cradled her in his arms came naturally… until she sobered up. He was everything that she’d convinced herself she didn’t need. Or was he everything she needed?
Ryan balanced on a thin line of gray. He’d killed his share of demons but managed to live at peace with his actions. Then he met Grace, a woman who pushed all his buttons and shook him to his core. The need to have her overwhelmed him, but she kept shooting him down. Could he convince her that he was exactly what she needed?
My Review:
What I enjoyed most about the two romantic characters in this story, Ryan and Grace, is that they both managed to build walls around themselves to protect their hearts from ever being hurt. But the first night they meet each other, those walls are shattered and they allow themselves to feel everything they’ve always been afraid of.
But embarrassment during their first interaction forces them both to put those walls right back up again. Over time, they work on climbing those fences and getting through to one another. Their relationship is sexy, flirty and wholesome all at the same time. All either of them really wants is to be loved and cared for. But because of bad experiences they are both scared to let someone in.
In tandem with this romantic adventure, we also have a dual thriller piece happening with Keri, a secretary of sorts with the local police department who makes it her mission in life to kill rapists, murderers and the like because of an experience that left her traumatized. The death of her sister.
