“I did the best I could, but I cried because I couldn’t imagine going another ten years, let alone thirty or forty, without the taste of full authentic expression.” -The Elegant Out
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bartasius writes raw words that drip with her own confusion and pain as she hits a turning point in her life. Faced with a possible realization that nothing is the way she wanted it to be in her life, she must face those demons head on to find happiness or be consumed in the constant ‘wants’ of her mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

A heart-wrenching read for any woman in her thirties facing those crossroads of, “what do I want to do with my life?”. Having three kids of my own and also an aspiring writer, we all realize that choices and sacrifices have to be made and that it’s never an easy transition. ⠀⠀

Bartasius is refreshing to read as she doesn’t hold back her thoughts on how she’s feeling or experiencing various situations and a reader, like myself, can feel enlightened by how she struggles and eventually finds peace in her own decisions.

This was a very short novel, at 127 pages, which makes it a very fast read. I would have happily read much more and this novel makes me excited to see what else Bartasius has to offer in future writings.
