New Release and Review: Love Unexpected by Q.B. Tyler

I’d only wanted one kiss.

One kiss, under the dark of night, in a city where no one knew us.
One kiss fueled by my hormones and alcohol and the blinding grief over losing my mother.
One kiss from the man I told myself was untouchable.
But, it didn’t stop at one kiss.
And now we are running full speed down a road with no intention of stopping.
His touch disarms me.

His kiss revives me.

But, our love, could destroy me.

Adventures in Literature Review:

I’m not even sure how to give this book a review worthy of the story’s quality. I was absolutely blown away by this one.

The premise of this story is we have Stassia who is finishing her senior year of high school, she lives with her mother and her step-father Dominic. Her mother is a staple person in her life and is someone she loves wholly without complications. Our prologue outlines her initial meeting of Dominic when she was 10 and he became the principal at her elementary school, but she had already developed an enormous crush on him. Shortly after that Stassia’s mother met Dominic and they fell in love and got married.

That was then and this is now. Stassia is now a woman and Dominic is still the sexy man that she was attracted to and avoids to a fault now. The simmering attraction between then is undeniable. When their situation is irrevocably changed, they find themselves having to face their attraction for one another head on.

In respect to not giving any spoilers, I have to be extremely careful with this review. But let’s just say that the heated attractions, the changing perspective they have on one another as she becomes a woman are riveting and intense. I loved this story so much – the taboo relationship had me heated beyond belief and the development of plot twists was magically written. You are tied into their grief, their attraction and the overall development of what happens in this story.

Stassia is a remarkable character – emotionally intelligent far beyond her years and far from what you would expect from a standard eighteen year old. She is independent, she stands up for herself and she should be strongly considered as a role model for today’s young women. She goes for what she wants in her life, even if those decisions are clouded by fear and confusion.

Strong, independent female characters always grab my attention and I love them so much.

Dominic is also an amazing character. He’s sexy in every way you want your lead male character to be but he’s also incredibly sensitive to the feelings of others. Usually putting other people before himself because he cares so deeply about people. That was a big part of his character development – finally doing something for himself rather than what others would want him to do.

A modern romantic masterpiece that will be a staple recommendation for me to any one that is looking for an age gap romance novel. This is beautifully written in its emotions, characters and time relevant romance that I can’t give it any better words than what I have done here.

If you love age gap romances, forbidden romance, or taboo romance please make it a point to read this one; you will not be disappointed.
