Book Review and Blitz: Two Like Me and You

Review: When I first read the description for this book I knew I had to read it. It sounded unique, quirky and all around a fun story. The first half of the book flies by to read, literally, you find yourself halfway through this book in one long cram session. It literally is too fun to put down.

Edwin and Parker make an exciting and fun pair to read their interactions. Edwin is intelligent but shy and reserved, while Parker is quirky and boisterous. They both challenge each other in different ways, which leads to their continuing interest in one another.

Not to mention they were paired for a history assignment that led to Edwin finding out where Parker spends all her free time, at a nursing home where her Aunt works, and befriends Garland, a senior citizen living in this nursing home. The three of them end up on a life changing adventure that opens the eyes of all involved.

Oh, and Edwin is doing all of this in hopes that he becomes famous and can win back his now famous ex-girlfriend that he is pining for a year later. While that relationship is a constant back burner to the story, it is relevant in understanding who Edwin is, why he makes the decisions he makes, and also the character hurdles he must overcome with the help of Parker and Garland and their grand adventure.

So join us on a YA adventure like no other where you travel from Alabama to France in hopes of reuniting a World War II veteran with the lost love of his life – with the assistance of Edwin and Parker of course!

Two Like Me and You
Chad Alan Gibbs
Publication date: May 20th 2019
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

Edwin Green’s ex-girlfriend is famous. We’re talking cover-of-every-tabloid-in-the-grocery-store-line famous. She dumped Edwin one year ago on what he refers to as Black Saturday, and in hopes of winning her back, he’s spent the last twelve months trying to become famous himself. It hasn’t gone well.

But when a history class assignment pairs Edwin with Parker Haddaway, the mysterious new girl at school, she introduces him to Garland Lenox, a nursing-home-bound World War II veteran who will change Edwin’s life forever.

The three escape to France, in search of the old man’s long-lost love, and as word of their adventure spreads, they become media darlings. But when things fall apart, they also become the focus of French authorities. In a race against time, who will find love, and who will only find more heartache?
