Secrets of a Wallflower by Laura Beers

Releasing: June 4, 2024

I just started this one last night. I’m an avid reader of Laura Beers’ regency romance books! Every single of them is an adventure all on it’s own but they’re also part of an entire cast of characters that interact across all of the books. Many of them are spies for the crown, working to protect their home in England from those that wish to do it harm. This book features a woman named Simone who was one of those such spies and she loves her work. But her father is tired of providing for her and is forcing her to be married this season.

Now she finds herself paired with Mr. Bolingbroke on a case and neither of them can seem to stand one another. Or is something more than that… time will tell!

Synopsis

Two unlikely partners must risk their secrets- and hearts- to unravel a web of treachery and save England.

Miss Simone Delacourt, a seemingly unnoticed wallflower in the eyes of the ton, hides a secret life as a spy, enjoying the freedom her anonymity affords. When she’s reluctantly paired with Mr. Caleb Bolingbroke, a man she can barely tolerate, her carefully crafted life is thrown into turmoil.

Mr. Caleb Bolingbroke isn’t pleased that he is assigned with the obstinate Miss Delacourt, but he is pleased when he is able to convince her to give their partnership a chance. Pursuing elusive French spies is their shared mission, and the stakes are high. Despite Miss Delacourt’s initial mistrust, Caleb is determined to win her over.

As they delve into the pursuit of the French spies, Caleb and Simone discover the need to depend on each other. The case unravels a web of secrets and lies, challenging their perceptions. In this intricate game of treachery, they must risk everything, including their hearts, to save England from an impending threat.

As the eighth novel in the series by author Laura Beers, Secrets of a Wallflower concludes the Lords & Ladies of Mayfair series. This is a light-hearted, clean and wholesome romance set in the Regency era. All books in this series have their own Happily-Ever-After and are best enjoyed in proper order.

Just Finished Reading

Flock and Roll by Vicki Hilton

Releasing: June 4, 2024

I just finished this one a few days ago and loved every second of it! You can read my full review of it HERE. This is a childhood friends to lovers, brother’s best friend trope-filled book. The main characters overcome a lot of insecurities about themselves and embrace their feelings for one another. Set in a humorous small town that will have you laughing at many of the antics, but with an HEA that’s perfection!

Synopsis

Rowena Swan, Tuft Swallow’s reigning crochet queen, is living her best life—or so she thinks. She’s got a thriving Etsy store, her independence, and a firm resolve NOT to pine over her brother’s hockey-playing best friend, Brody Flockhart. But when he returns to their quirky small town, sidelined by injury and questioning his future, long forgotten sparks reignite.

In a move to spend more time with the woman he’s always loved, Brody convinces Rowena to join a roller derby tryout—with him as her coach. The snag? Rowena sets her own challenge, and he has to learn to crochet.

As they navigate the ups and downs of small-town life, roller rinks and crafting circles, will Brody realize he can’t find true happiness in fame and fortune? And will Rowena see that she’s worthy of love, just as she is?

Get ready for a swoon-worthy romp where love, laughter, and logic unravel. After all, what’s a few dropped stitches between friends?

The War Queens by Rebecca Hazell

Released: October 11, 2023

This book has been on my reading list for quite some time and I’m looking forward to getting to this one. Historically focused and feeding my inner historian, I am excited to dive into this one here soon!

Synopsis

By the sixth century, the Roman Empire is already lost to tribal invasions, brutal Merovingian Franks have seized Gaul from the civilized Romanized Visigoths, and a dark age has descended across Europe. Now a deadly rivalry arises between two Merovingian queens. Brunhilda and Fredegunda are equals in beauty and intelligence, but opposite in vision and temperament. When the Franks demand a royal bride, Visigoth Brunhilda marries into a world that despises women. Suddenly thrust into power and repeatedly facing loss and grief, she seeks to revive a new Rome based on justice and prosperity. Her implacable foe, Fredegunda, is a former slave concubine who lives only for personal power. Insanely jealous of high-born Brunhilda, she uses seduction, assassination, war, and even witchcraft in her campaign to destroy her. Can Brunhilda survive this onslaught of evil? Can her vision survive?
