Cold Hearted by Leia Stone and Julie Hall

Releasing: May 23, 2024

I started this one yesterday and am loving it’s quick pace and action packed story line. The FMC is strong and surprising in her character. She’s meant to kill a king in this alternate world to save her own, but the more she’s there, the harder her mission becomes to carry out. It’s a shorter book (only 288 pages) and just has fantastic banter between the characters. I’m really enjoying it so far.

Synopsis

To save my kingdom, someone must die.

Every hundred years, a curse descends on Faerie, ravaging its lands and killing its people. For the last two millennia, the Summer Court princess has always been the one to stop it.

Now it’s my turn.

My entire life I’ve prepared to become one thing: the perfect assassin. My mission is simple. Travel to the mirror realm, find an Ethereum Lord, return to Faerie with his magical heart. But when I step through the portal, I’m immediately taken captive and find myself at the mercy of Zander, a handsome royal guard.

Now I’m forced to play by his rules, because if I fail at my task everyone and everything I’ve ever known and loved perishes. But Zander has secrets, and when I find out what they are they make me question if everything I’ve ever been taught was a lie…

Cold Hearted is a full-length fantasy romance stand-alone with an HEA! This book is perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers, fated mates, and forced proximity.

Just Finished Reading

Under the Palms by Kaira Rouda

Released: May 21, 2024

This one is part of the BookSparks SRC2024 summer reading and I loved how fast it was to read and how hard it was to know what everyone’s hidden agendas were. There’s a lot going on in the story with each character and it was fascinating to try and guess who was the worst Kingsley of the entire family. There are a lot of nasty people in this family, all willing to hurt anyone to get ahead.

Synopsis

During a weekend retreat, a powerful family plays a dangerous game of dark secrets and cold-blooded ambition in a novel by Kaira Rouda, USA Today bestselling author of Beneath the Surface.

Under the direction of the Kingsleys’ new president, Paige, the family has gathered for a weekend retreat at a luxurious Laguna Beach resort.

Still clinging to the hope of succession are the sons of Richard Kingsley, the family patriarch and John, the oldest, who’s clawed his way back from a dark tragedy, and Paige’s estranged husband, Ted, the golden boy. When Richard’s ex and his wayward daughter join the fray, Paige finds herself with two fast allies. They know a secret that could shatter the family legacy. Call it leverage, call it revenge, the Kingsley women believe they have the upper hand.

But as the power games begin, greater threats than the howling Santa Ana winds are coming. Because this weekend, amid so much greed and betrayal, no Kingsley is safe. It’s family. Watch your back.

Flock and Roll by Vicki Hilton

Releasing: June 4, 2024

Up next on my reads list is the new release coming from Vicki Hilton. I recently found her rom-com books and have been in love with them. They have amazing banter between the characters and always make me feel pretty happy when I read them. Can’t wait to get started on this one!

Synopsis

Rowena Swan, Tuft Swallow’s reigning crochet queen, is living her best life—or so she thinks. She’s got a thriving Etsy store, her independence, and a firm resolve NOT to pine over her brother’s hockey-playing best friend, Brody Flockhart. But when he returns to their quirky small town, sidelined by injury and questioning his future, long forgotten sparks reignite.

In a move to spend more time with the woman he’s always loved, Brody convinces Rowena to join a roller derby tryout—with him as her coach. The snag? Rowena sets her own challenge, and he has to learn to crochet.

As they navigate the ups and downs of small-town life, roller rinks and crafting circles, will Brody realize he can’t find true happiness in fame and fortune? And will Rowena see that she’s worthy of love, just as she is?

Get ready for a swoon-worthy romp where love, laughter, and logic unravel. After all, what’s a few dropped stitches between friends?
