My Review:
I was just blown away by this story. It was nothing like I had been expecting at all! You read the synopsis and you look at the picture – you think “oh, a sweet Cinderella love story”.
OH BOY
You have no idea what you’re getting into with this book! The main character Ashley is the sweetest and most caring female character I have come across in a while and she’s endearing. So much so that her pain hurt me. She is raised as the unwanted offspring of a 16 year old Catholic Welsh girl who is then disowned by her overly religious parents to raise this baby on her own.
With no experience and no idea what she’s doing, Ashley’s mom Tig, raises her in an LA stylized fantasy. Filled with drugs, parties, glamour and sex. Tig ends up becoming a world famous model and has more money, drugs, and parties than she knows what to do with. All while raising her daughter, now presented as her SISTER, for political stardom reasons.
At 13, Ashley is swept up into this lifestyle of watching her mother nearly kill herself with her lifestyle, when a millionaire reaches out to Tig and requests her to marry him and move to New York with him, bringing her sister Ashley, of course. Tig is married to this millionaire, Mosier, for several years before she meets an untimely death.
After her funeral, Ashley is with the family listening to the reading of her mother’s will and finds out that once she graduates high school in one month, Mosier wants her to stay home and live with him. Back at home, he reveals to her that he expects her to marry him and bear his children. Keep in mind – this man is at least 30 years older than 18 year old Ashley. WHEW!
Ashley ends up on the run hiding from Mosier and meets her very own Prince Charming. Follow Ashley’s horror and eventual grace in this epic love story about a brave young girl just trying to feel safe.
