Rating: 5 out of 5.

A story about vengeance, painful truths and family. Where the forest is frightening and protective all in one heart beat and two young women find solace in one another as they battle for their lives and seek out answers to questions they both need.

Della is the youngest of the Lloyd family and they are the local family of witches that live on the Bend along a nature park and interact with the natural magic of the area. They’re considered black and poor by everyone’s standards, but people seek out their magic brews to punish people that have wronged them. The Lloyd’s may be looked down on by everyone around them, but they all need them.

Natasha is the adopted daughter of a very rich, wealthy family and her older (biological) sister has gone missing. Everyone is trying to figure out what happened and every road leads them to the natura park that feeds the Lloyd family magic.

Driving Della and Natasha together to try and figure out what’s happening; Della will have to face the struggles of her mother’s changing into a river siren and the reason the magic in the Bend is changing in a bad way.

This book is hard to put down once you start reading because everything happens so fast and you can’t stop wanting to know where everything is going. The layers of mystery and intrigue had my brain rattling for answers. I was sucked into the excitement of everything that was happening but also drawn to the sorrow of what happened to Nathasha’s sister and Della’s mother. Nothing is what it seems like and no one is who they appear to be.

The Bend wants balance to return and will do what’s necessary to bring it all back into place.

Della and Natasha have a beautiful blooming between them that develops into a deeper love than most romances can even develop. Their anguish and fierceness brings them together but their pure love for life keeps them attached through everything. Stuff that would crumble most people, makes these two even stronger and an incredible example for how love develops.

This book is a MUST READ!
