MY REVIEW:

Delilah and Christian will haunt my dreams for some time to come. Their story is not an easy one and their path was filled with thorns and brambles. But no love story is ever truly easy or without challenge.

It will fill you with visions of The Handmaid’s Tale or any other number of books where women are seen as cattle. Meant for servitude and breeding. Christian is an immortal and he’s finally had his calling for his mate – the other half of his soul. But a 300 year old immortal doesn’t exactly know how to handle himself in this scenario. His mate is Delilah and she’s a young, modern and independent woman that has no idea who the guy at the bar is, but she knows she’s attracted to him.

After finding herself “belonging” to him and taken captive to his house in a remote location on a farm with other immortals, her world crumbles around her. Delilah is a strong-willed and passionate character that struggles with her view of herself, but knows that she wants the autonomy to make her own decisions. Which is something that her new mate, Christian, has a hard time doing.

They constantly challenge one another and have a deep progressive development throughout this book. The first 25% of this book felt incredibly slow… there was a lot of groundwork being laid for who the characters were, what was happening and where things might go. But once I got through that hurdle, things really started taking shape and I was hooked on it. I need to go back and read the earlier books in this series to understand everything that’s taken place up to this point. But each book can be read as a stand alone

I was really amazed at the growth of the characters throughout this book – not to mention the swoon worthy way they care about each other, even if it’s colored by deep seeded hate in the beginning.

HIGHLY recommend this one for ANYONE that loves a classic vampire story. It really brought me back to me early reading days of consuming everything written by Anne Rice

Passion erupts in this masterfully dark, enemies-to-lovers, thriller from bestselling and award-winning author-Lydia Michaels.

There is nothing more sacred than the immortal vow of bonded mates, but when Delilah Starling is transitioned against her will and taken captive by a savagely beautiful immortal, she pledges to fight his dominant rule to her last breath.

Christian Schrock, an elder of The Order, hunted and possessively claimed his mortal mate as was his right. His irrevocable actions, however, sparked challenges he never anticipated.

Subjected to live under the patriarchal reign of an ancient society, Delilah battles the oppressive traditions forcing her to submit to a life she did not choose, and a man she does not love. Christian must convince her that she belongs to him, but the unruly female refuses to see past the brutal betrayal that founded their relationship.

Lust and tension dominate this dark world of paranormal suspense in an explosive continuation of the unmatched and fiercely unique series, The Order of Vampires!
