MY REVIEW:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Derek and his family have become wealthier than they ever could have imagined through his real estate business. Married to his wife Jane and working alongside their three grown children, Derek is accustomed to his wealthy lifestyle and his entire personality has changed over the decades from the fun-loving young man he was when Jane met him, to a ruthless and power hungry mogul today.

His wife and his daughter still have some grip on reality and are very unhappy with how their father behaves and treats people he deems less than their status.

But a chance opportunity changes everything for Derek when he starts getting visions of his past life as a young black man in the 1940s. A story about remembrance and redemption; an opportunity for Derek to self reflect on the way he is living his life and the things he might want to change before it’s too late.

With his life now falling apart and his wife unsure of where the man she married has gone to, he spends some time in deep reflection on who he was in his past life and who he wants to be now. Derek fully remembers all of his past life in vivid detail and he uses those memories to re-walk the progression of his own life and how he ended up where he is now.

I really enjoyed this book and the depth of it’s spiritual tones and past life reflections. It’s refreshing to read about a situation that crosses racial, cultural and societal boundaries to open up a perspective of appreciation for life. Not life because of this thing or that experience, but for the sake of life itself.

Derek Worthington has neglected the personal relationships to those closest to him and compromised his morals to gain wealth and power. After surviving a brain aneurysm, Derek begins to have vivid recurring visions of a group of somewhat familiar people from a different place in time. He tries to pass them off as mere dreams, but the constant visions intrude relentlessly into his daily life. After undergoing a past life regression, he gains total recall of his past life as Charles Richardson, a poor Black man who died in the 1940s. As Derek digs deeper into his life as Charles, he discovers unexpected connections that threaten to disrupt all he has known.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lynn Ellen

Lynn Ellen is an author of both novels and screenplays. Writing has been a labor of love for her inspired by a lifelong interest in spirituality and the concept of eternal love. Her literary interest began as a child when she wrote and typed a script for a backyard neighborhood play on an old manual typewriter. As life moved along, marriage, having four daughters, and running several businesses with her husband left little time for any actual writing. Eventually, when she found herself with more free time, she began studying creative writing in earnest, reading books on writing screenplays and novels, and attending classes, seminars, and webinars. Lynn lives in Ohio with her husband and their Bernedoodle, Nellie.
