An emotional read about twin sisters that are time crossers living simultaneously in 1692 during the Salem Witch Trials and also in 1912 on the precipice of The Great Depression and World War I. These girls made me so emotional with their love and dedication for one another. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
This is Book 3 in Meyer’s Timeless series, I haven’t read the first two books but I really want to now after reading this one. I’ve included all four books in the series listed further on in this post, if you want to take a look.
Hope and Grace are twin sisters that are part of a long family line of time crossers. They live in dual times and places and as they sleep each night, they wake up the next morning in the other place and time. I wasn’t sure how Meyer was going to handle this time flip-flop and was rather impressed with how smoothly it went. I never felt jarred with the time transitions or character changes.
It’s an emotional story though. Hope loves living in 1912 and on their upcoming 25th birthday, both girls plan to stay the rest of their lives in 1912 and far away from Salem, Massachusetts and the Witch trials taking place. No matter what happens, these sisters want to stay together and are determined to be each other’s side. God has other plans for these young ladies and they will be forced with big decisions that will change everything about what they know today.
Romance is abound for these sisters as well. They are both navigating attractions and potential relationships on both sides of their timelines and this is also a big part of their decision on which timeline to choose as their future. A story filled with family love and despair, sisterly bonds that transcend time, and finding your person that you can share your life with.
My Favorite Lines:
- “God doesn’t make mistakes. He placed us here because it’s supposed to be a part of us – for good or for bad. We are a product of our lives, of the people and events that shape our experiences, our personalities, even our hopes and dreams.”

Grace and Hope are identical twin sisters born with the ability to time-cross together between 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, and 1912 New York City. As their twenty-fifth birthday approaches, they will have to choose one life to keep and one to leave behind forever–no matter the cost.
In 1692, they live and work in their father’s tavern, where they must watch helplessly as the witch trials unfold in their village, threatening everyone. With the help of a handsome childhood friend, they search for the truth behind their mother’s mysterious death, risking everything to expose a secret that could save their lives–or be their undoing.
In 1912, Hope dreams of becoming one of the first female pilots in America, and Grace works as an investigative journalist, uncovering corruption and injustice. After their parents’ orphanage is threatened by an adversary, they enter a contest to complete a perilous cross-country flight under the guidance of a daring French aviator.
The sisters have already decided which timeline they will choose, but an unthinkable tragedy complicates the future they planned for themselves. As their birthday looms, how will they determine the lives–and loves–that are best for both of them?
