Introduction

Madison is a new to me author and has quite an assortment of books in two different series that are sure to be wonderful! Her Matchmaker series features three fun, light-hearted, swoon-worthy romantic suspense stories that have a touch of sweetness and a dash of humor. Each one is sure to keep you guessing until the very end. Then her Shining Knight series features suspenseful plot lines that keep you on the edge of your seat and enjoying some heart warming clean romance.

Madison Love is an Amazon Best-selling, clean, contemporary, and Christian romance writer who loves to intertwine humor and suspense while adding a dash of sweetness. She has spent most of her life traveling abroad, discovering new places, and meeting wonderful people. It took twenty years in the military before she settled in a rural town outside of Buffalo, New York, where she now lives on a forty-acre farm with her husband, son, and two dogs. Having been afforded the time and opportunity to bring her ideas and stories to life, she seeks to give her readers the ‘happy ever after’ they seek, but with a splash of intrigue.

She has a new book coming out on July 15th, 2024 called “Daring: Shining Knight Protectors Book 5” and is part of a series of books. Book 5 is a sweet, Christian, second-chance romantic suspense novel that combines intrigue, love, and humor for a fun and exciting read that will keep you guessing until the very end. There is no swearing, promiscuity, or cheating in these stories. Although this is the fifth book in the Shining Knight Protector series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone novel. However, there are spoilers if you haven’t yet read Resolute.

Daring

Finding out I had a brother was one thing. Protecting his best friend is another. I’ve always kept my heart locked up tighter than a vault, but Detective Elijah Kincaid has the skills to break in and steal it.

How do I know? He’s done it once before.

Eli is handsome, suave, and oozes charm. He’s a master of getting out of sticky situations and getting what he wants. After a sweet kiss for my 18th birthday, I once thought he wanted me.

I was wrong, and when he turned his back and walked away, I was sure we’d never see each other again. But as Eli wades through the treacherous waters of political corruption, an underground drug ring, and a cop killer on the loose, he finds himself in over his head and his hands bound by bureaucracy.

I can cut through the red tape. Having been raised on the streets of Seattle and familiar with the seedy underground, I’m tasked to help Eli with his investigation. I return to the place where my old life ended and my new one began, but I’m fearless—armed with faith, a weapon, and a team at my six.

Do I dare risk my heart once again as Eli and I discover we work better together than apart? And if I do, what will it cost me in the end?

Interview with Madison Love

Q: Let’s get started with an introduction. Can you tell me a little about how you first got into writing and what it felt like publishing your very first book?

A: I spent twenty years flying around the globe on C-17’s, transporting everything from the President’s helicopter to a pallet of bubble wrap, which provided plenty of time for me to read on the long flights. Like many other military members, my career also took me away from my family for long periods of time. So when I retired, I wanted to do something from home so that I could attend every sporting event or other activity my son was involved in.

I never envisioned myself an author, but after reading an average of 300 books a year, it was hard not to have hundreds of ideas swirling in my head. After I put pen to paper (clicking away on the keyboard), my first book Matchmaking the Protector was drafted.

It was terrifying hitting the “Publish” button on Amazon since I was afraid of what most indie authors are scared of. “What if no one likes the book? What if no one reads it?” Thankfully, I’ve had a great deal of positive, honest, and realistic feedback that motivated me to continue. I write, because you all love to read clean stories.

Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies (other than writing)?

A: Hands down, traveling. I’ve been to more than 60 different countries and love the diversity and richness of all the different cultures. I’ll be taking a 7-week road trip with my family across the country this summer just so that my son can cross off all 50 states before he starts college. Whether it’s a weekend spent an hour away or a week-long cruise doesn’t matter. For me, it’s about getting out, exploring the world, and living life to the fullest.

Q: What book (other than your own) do you recommend to everyone that they have to read?

A: Wow, that’s a tough one as there are so many wonderful authors out there, but the first book I ever read cover-to-cover was Frank Peretti’s “This Present Darkness.” It’s a fantastic and powerful book that uncovers the world of angels and demons battling for our souls behind the scenes. It’s nearly 40 years old, but it’s timeless and worth reading.

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about your writing process? Note taking; favorite place to write uninterrupted; etc?

A: I typically write on my couch with my dogs curled up beside me while my husband is work and my son is at school. I jot down a few ideas for a storyline, but that’s about it. I tried working from an outline on several occassions, but after a few chapters, I’m so far off the mark that it is a fruitless endeavor. Ultimately, I write from heart and wherever God leads it to go.

Q: How do incorporate your faith into your stories and what do you hope readers take away from those messages?

A: The willingness to forgive others and ourselves because that’s what Christ does for us, is paramount. Acceptance that our will is not always God’s will is also a major theme in my current series, The Shining Knight Protectors.

I was raised to believe in God, but at one point in my life, I thought I could do things my way. Oh, how wrong I was. God’s way isn’t always the easy way, but it is the most rewarding. I can look back and see the positive lining to every heartbreak, hurt, and failure because they have all led me to right where I need to be.

If there is one thing I want people to know is that God’s love is parental. We don’t call Him the Father for nothing. He will allows us to scrape our knees and feel the pain, but He’s always there to pick us up. He always transforms the negative into something spectacular, but it’s in His time, not ours.

Q: Your latest release, Resolute, features a lot of heavy topics including fostering kids, drug cartels and lots of danger. Can you tell me what your experience was like researching for this story?

A: Honestly, I don’t have any experience with fostering or being adopted, but I have friends who have. Being a mother or father has nothing to do with the blood that courses through our veins, and everything to do with love we share. I try to express that in my stories because I believe it’s a special gift.

As far as drug cartels, most of the research was done online, but isn’t the focal point of the story which is why it isn’t in great detail. I research the guns that are used to make sure that they are appropriate for the purpose for which they are being used, and if I have an idea, I research the feasibility.

When it comes to the danger aspect, I’ve  had to undergo survival training in the event I was ever captured or our plane was shot down. I’m not allowed to discuss that particular training in detail, but let’s just say I’d happily never do it again. I’ve also had to learn to evade in the woods as well as an urban environment. Other training I’ve had to endure includes reactions in hostile situations, room clearing, and weapons handling. I’ve even had to use a modified M-4 that shoots “simunition rounds” (it’s a real thing, although I’ve taken a few liberties substituting paint for a tranquilizing agent in my stories.) So, some of my research is from personal experiences.

Q: Which one of your books was your most favorite to write?

A: I’ve enjoyed them all, but I had a lot of fun with Matchmaking the Firefighter and Valiant, I really love the Arbaroa family, and I’m considering doing a spin-off so that Brody, Ansel, and Daphne get their stories. However, Worthy was the hardest but most rewarding. There’s something to be said about the power of forgiveness, and the moment we “Let Go, and Let God.”
