MY REVIEW:

Genre | Tropes: Historical, Romance, Christian, Clean

Rating: 5 out of 5 ⭐

Meeting Her Match was a wonderfully hilarious story about Camilla, a self-proclaimed matchmaker and spinster for life. After her heart was broken during her debut year, she’s settled into her spinster preferences and enjoys finding things to keep herself busy. That is until she meets Owen.

I gather that Camilla is rather comedic on her own, but the dynamic between Owen and herself always provides hilarious situations. They find themselves arguing over the funniest things, ending up in outlandish predicaments, and Owen’s proclivity with saying anything that is on his mind, has me snorting in very unladylike ways during the course of this book.

The humor is one of the best elements of this story, but also the sweet and gentle interactions between the characters. The entire reason Camilla is even with this family is to help Owen’s sister become more refined and earn her place back in the upper society of their West Virginia home. But her services end up being needed by everyone in town and she quickly makes a name for herself amongst this town.

Camilla’s character was inspirational in her constant dedication to challenging herself. Even though she comes from a wealthy family and has always had assistance with things in her life, she quickly and excitedly embraces the country life – even whitewashing fences!

An adorable adventure between Camilla and her strong, broad shouldered Owen that will have you laughing and smiling with every chapter!

My Favorite Lines

“Do you always say whatever pops to mind?”

“Should I take that to mean I’ve just said something you disapprove of yet again?”

“Gentleman should never remark on a lady’s figure.”

“Not even to compliment it, which I just did to yours if you missed that?”

“As Owen led her through a series of twirls, her mind began to spin quite as fast as her feet because the thought sprang to mind that Beulah might not be so wrong after all and that she, Miss Camilla Pierpont, confirmed spinster by choice, may have finally and quite unexpectedly, met her match.”
