Hard to Take is Book 2 in the newest Denver Kodiak’s sports romance from Piper Lawson. This trilogy follows the story of Miles and Brooke – they’ve known each other since college and Miles teammate Jay, is Brooke’s older brother.

You have to read Book 1 to read Book 2, they are all interconnected and the story progresses through each one. Miles is an extremely confidant type that has gone through lots of one-time girlfriends in his career. He’s known as the jokester and life of the party. Brooke is under the pressure of her brother’s stardom and a family that is embedded in politics, so appearances are everything in her family. Which makes life a little hard for Brooke.

These two had a lot of chemistry brewing in the earlier trilogy that features two other characters, but this one is their time to shine and shine brightly they do! They’ve fallen hard for each other and Miles is there to help Brooke with all the hard things she’s facing in her life. But things from their past, that impact both of them, have risen it’s ugly head and is causing a lot of trouble for Miles career and Brooke’s personal life.

Miles and Brooke are absolutely adorable together and I love how Piper made their relationship kind of just naturally happen over the course of Book 2. Things are all clicking into place and the attraction between them is on the smoldering side. Expect lots of activity between these two! But what I loved even more was that these two people care so much for others in their life that they always weigh their decisions on how the things they do will impact others. Sometimes putting their own happiness at risk.

I can’t wait for the final piece coming out in October!!
