MY REVIEW:
Genre | Tropes: Paranormal, Vampires, Biblical History, Romance, Closed Door
Rating: 5 out of 5 ⭐
This story was quite a treat, Nikki is a new author for me and this was her first work I’ve read and I was impressed. Her ability to weave ancient history in a modern context and build characters that had definitively different personalities and mesh them all into one story was amazing!
Mercy Mild Harker is a small town girl that’s been hiding from her family that she’s been a vampire for almost a decade now. But when she comes home for Christmas her secret comes out. Not only that, but she’s not on the best terms with her Sire and semi-love interest, Levi. Levi is my favorite as he’s the perfect cinnamon roll MMC around. He runs a small cafe and loves to serve coffee even though he’s 550 years old! He’s humorous, sensitive and all around a wonderful guy. But Mercy struggles to let herself like him. She spends most of the story harboring anger towards him for turning her, but he’s hard to resist!
The biblical history in this one was fascinating, although I don’t want to go too much into it because that contains spoilers. But throughout the book the characters piece together how the stories from the Bible relate to vampire lore and ultimately the climax of the entire book!
Mercy’s sister is another really fun character as she’s human, but has like no fear whatsoever of all the non human activity surrounding her. All she really cares about is her sister and being there for her.
A fantastic read that includes no steamy scenes, but plenty of love and affection – plus vampires!
All Mercy wanted for Christmas was a bit of peace.
In a quaint Connecticut town, the magic of Christmas is overshadowed when Mercy’s past catches up with her. Levi, a mysterious immortal who turned her into a vampire nine years ago, comes calling. This time, instead of running, she decides to stay and learn about vampire history and abilities, at least for the winter holiday. She soon finds that she and Levi share a connection deeper than she ever imagined.
A shocking and possibly Biblical truth forces Mercy to toil over a newfound identity while exploring extraordinary abilities she never knew she had. This power draws the attention of cannibalistic vampires, harbingers of even darker days to come.
She should have known that a peaceful holiday was a high order.
PEACE ON EARTH & MERCY MILD is a romantasy that blends Biblical elements with the timeless allure of vampires. In this story, love transcends centuries, and the battle between good and evil becomes deeply personal.
