It’s always a bittersweet moment when you finish a series with characters you’ve spent so much time with and come to appreciate their unique character traits. As I finished Hard to Break, the final installment of Brooke and Miles’ story, I appreciate that their story has concluded, but I also know I’ll miss them as much as I still miss Clay and Nova from the first trilogy.

This was the perfect culmination of their love story, laying bare the weaknesses of both of them and showing their human side, as well as highlighting their immense strengths and reminding me of the importance of true friendship. That’s a central theme through these three books – both Brooke and Miles hold friendship and loyalty in high esteem. They are faced with challenges that make them question their own worth to those around them and find a way to shine even in the darkness.

While their love story was perfectly built up throughout these three books, I think what I took most away from their story was that theme of support and loyalty for those that are important to me. A reminder that family isn’t always those you’re related to, but also those that you invite into your life because they make you stronger, they make you a better person all the way around.

If you love sports romance that focuses on the hardships of making relationships work, characters that put their all into who they want to be and seeing others succeed, as well as finding their own way as individuals, then you’ll love these books about Brooke and Miles. They inspired me and I think they will inspire you, too.
