Weddings, whispers, and one very inconvenient corpse—Murder in Matrimony proves once again why Mary Winters’ Lady of Letters series is my comfort-read sweet spot. If Murder in Season gave us peak whodunnit-with-heart, this installment raises the stakes with wedding chaos, a blackmailer, and the tender, toe-tingly progression of Amelia & Simon. Cozy, clever, and wonderfully romantic.

My Thoughts:
This is exactly the historical cozy I crave: brisk plotting, sparkling dialogue, and a heroine who balances compassion with steel. Amelia remains a delight—poised in public, fiercely principled in private—and the Lady Agony letters continue to thread humor and social insight through the mystery. I loved how the vicar’s death becomes the key to a wider, grittier puzzle; Winters lets Mayfair glamour brush up against the East End’s harsher realities without losing cozy warmth.
If you enjoyed the push-pull in Murder in Season—Aunt Tabitha’s rules vs. Amelia’s instincts, family turbulence vs. found-family grace—you’ll be happy here. The “city meets country” wedding prep is comedic gold (Tabitha vs. Amelia’s clan = chef’s kiss), and Simon… well, consider my fan thoroughly misplaced. Their chemistry deepens in ways that feel earned and respectful of Amelia’s past; it’s kisses-only on-page, but with that lovely Victorian slow-burn.
A few threads resolve quickly (blackmailers rarely manage patience), yet the overall tapestry is satisfying, with clues that click into place right when they should. The epilogue ties emotional bows without shutting the door—fingers crossed we’re not saying goodbye.

Publisher’s Blurb:
Countess-turned-advice columnist Amelia Amesbury has a wedding to plan alongside a new murder in this charmingly deadly historical mystery.
Countess Amelia Amesbury has her work cut out. As well as balancing her alter ego—secret advice columnist, Lady Agony—and the blackmailer threatening to reveal her real identity, her sister has also announced she’s getting married. It’s joyous news, but places all the planning for a high society wedding firmly at Amelia’s door.
Luckily, her good friend and local vicar Mr. Cross has agreed to the expedited nuptials, so that’s one less thing to worry about. Until Cross is found dead at the church. Now in between bridal arrangements, Amelia must follow the clues Mr. Cross left behind.
Clearly, he’d made some enemies during his parishioner work, as strange mishaps begin to occur wherever Amelia goes. But when the danger becomes all too real, Amelia must rely on her friends and the handsome Simon Bainbridge to help solve the murder, save the wedding, and Amelia’s life too . . .

Final Thoughts:
A deft blend of wit, warmth, and whodunnit—Murder in Matrimony gives us a wedding to remember, a mystery to savor, and a romance that finally lets its guard down.
Which side of the wedding would you land on: Team Aunt Tabitha’s Etiquette or Team Chaos & Charm?
