As a child, I loved looking through my various Christmas books and taking in all the lovely pictures of snow, big red bows, full Christmas trees and happy families. I had lots of these books and it always made me feel more like the holidays when I could look at those pictures.

Now that I am a parent, I love that I can share similar memories with my own children. Reading them their favorite holiday book before bed, snuggling on the couch and watching holiday movies. Making as many happy and warm memories for them as I can. During this time of year I heavily emphasize family time and am taking lots of vacation time before the year is over to spend it at home with my family.

One of my favorite characters from my childhood holiday memories was always Frosty the Snowman and the first words he says when he is brought to life: “Happy Birthday!!”

This line has dual meanings for me as it makes me reminisce my childhood memories, but also brings to the forefront wonderful memories of my great-grandmother who, in her old age, would randomly say “Happy Birthday!” to any one, at any time.

Frosty the Snowman, for me, was always an adorable story about a little girl who brought him to life for their winter enjoyment. But then when his life was in danger due to the rising temperatures, she risked her own life to try and save him. She demonstrates selflessness and builds character through the climax of this child’s story.

Overall a cute and lovable story; one that resonates with my childhood and will always have a special place in my heart. ❀
