Instagram Behind the Scenes – Building a Brand

Did you know that there are over 1 billion users of Instagram and it’s one of the most internationally recognized platforms? The user base is fairly split between 5 dominating countries that include the United States, Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Russia being the top accessed countries. (source)

As I become more and more familiar with my follower base and the community as a whole, it turned into something much more important to me than just sharing a photo each day. It became a way to communicate with people that love the same things I do.

The real struggle I ran into was how I wanted my pictures to look. When I first started I was using terrible lighting in a corner by my front door and all the random stuff I could find in my house that I thought might look really cool in a picture with my books. As time went on I started understanding what I wanted to see in a picture; aka what made me feel comforted and happy and that’s how I finally came to embrace my own branding look.

The way I present my photos always has a few key items: coffee, books, my soft white background and an assortment of flowers. Then I dabble in other supporting props such as are appropriate for the picture itself. But what I learned most of all is that to make some special to you and to those that enjoy your work, is just to be true to you. I don’t do a whole lot of work for my pictures, but because I’ve really honed in on what I love, it shows in every single photo I take.

What are some of your favorite Instagram / Bookstagram accounts??
