Fragile Truths is the second half of the story about Jax and Lexi. We first met them in Fragile Lies where they met while Lexi was recovering from a horrific heart break when she caught her fiance cheating on her. Jax is a confirmed bachelor who only uses women to get his fill but never develops a relationship. Jax hasn’t quite recovered from his time in the military and watching his brother die in his arms – so relationships were a no go for him.
But he and Lexi were meant to be and their “all fun” relationship quickly started getting too real. For fear of hurting Lexi, Jax decided to end things with Lexi and hurt her more than he thought he could. That is where Fragile Truths picks up from and boy was it a wild and emotional ride for me. The first half of the book includes them struggling through their broken hearts while being separated. It was intense and painful reading about how both of them wanted the other so badly, but both refused to give in. But circumstances force them back together and they are stronger than ever – until the worst possible thing could happen. Their worlds are torn apart again but in a much darker way than anyone could have imagined.
A story filled with loss, heart break, rekindling love lost and finding a way to move forward through the darkness of loss. Lexi and Jax were two very well written characters that had to face their most difficult struggles and find ways to work through those issues before it tore them apart. There are amazing and encouraging supporting characters in their best friends and family members.
Lilian Harris has provided us with a timeless read that really speaks to relationships and all the hurdles that we face. Not everyone has or will experience these things in their own lives, but she wrote them in such a way that they not only lifted the characters up and made them stronger people, but the reader will enjoy the intense and emotional ride.
I highly recommend this read if you enjoy a lot of steamy interactions, emotional connections and a family-focused outcome. You won’t be disappointed.
