I love it when a book makes me laugh so hard I have tears in my eyes. This was a wonderful story about two people who absolutely adore one another, but spend most of their time trying to avoid their feelings. Their humor is belly aching and constant. Their nerdiness was a wonderful surprise too for two executive level individuals. Loring did an amazing job writing these two characters in a very believable setting with a romance that was adorable and heart warming, especially as a holiday read! I will be making it a point to read lots more of work because I loved this one SO much!
But let’s get into why I enjoyed this one as much as I did! It’s ALL about that humor! With lines like this how can you possible go wrong??
“She sticks her tongue out at me. Actually sticks her tongue out at me, and it’s somehow sexy and makes me want to impregnate her.”
I mean, come on, when you read that tell me you’re not completely enamored and bursting at the seams laughing?? This was the kind of holiday story I needed and enjoyed so very much. It’s basically following a top city lawyer and his amazing executive assistant that he’s been in love with since forever. But when a family event comes up that he can’t avoid any longer he drafts up an agreement to bring his assistant along with him as his fake girlfriend.
Things get hot, they get confusing and no one knows exactly how to handle the simmering pot that has become their attraction and feelings for each other. You’ll love how quickly this one reads along with the amazing banter between Declan and Maddie.
BLURB
Whatβs the actual last thing youβd ever want your executive assistant to see you doing the morning after you had hot, drunk, angry sex with her in a terrible hotel room? Dancing around your terrible hotel room to βCome and Get Your Loveβ like Star-Lord in πΊπ’πππππππ ππ π‘βπ πΊππππ₯π¦βnaked? Yeah. Me too.
And yet, here we are.
This isnβt even the most unprofessional thing thatβs happened between us in the past couple of weeks.
The first was when I agreed to let her have Christmas Day off, but only if she goes with me to three family gatherings as my fake girlfriend.
The second was when she caught me belting out a Christmas song on stage in the awful hotel bar.
The third was the hot, drunk, angry sex that followed, but I do not regret it.
And she hasnβt even found out the real reason I need her by my side this holiday season.
I need to pull it together before I do the dumbest, most unprofessional thing of allβfall head over heels in love with the only assistant whoβs lasted more than a month at the job and claims to hate me and my moods more than she hates eggnog.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Before writing steamy romantic comedy novels, Kayley Loring got a BFA in creative writing from a Canadian university and had a fifteen-year career as a screenwriter in Los Angeles (under a different name). She mostly wrote PG-13 family comedies that studios would pay her lots of money for and then never make into movies. In 2017 she decided to move to the Pacific Northwest and write about all the fun stuff that she wasn’t allowed to write about in those PG-13 scripts. Now sheβs breathing cleaner air and writing dirtier words. Itβs an adjustment sheβs happily getting used to.
