I have been in such as holiday reading mood lately, I can’t even tell you. So many holiday books and they’re all making me feel so excited about the holidays this year and giving me ideas on what I want to do for my family.
Jingle Wars was an exceptionally well written romance comedy about a small town called Hollyridge in Montana. We get to know Finn who is the grandson of the owners of the small town’s most well known lodge for visitors: The Mayberry Inn. They live a quiet life, while Finn helps out his grandparents and just kind of enjoys life. But nothing exciting ever happens to him. Not really.
Next door to the Mayberry Inn is the Alpine Lodge. An expensive newer resort for those coming to town looking for elegance and style on their vacation. Enter Freya. The daughter of the Alpine Lodge owner and all-around Christmas lover. She’s been tasked with growing the resort and proving to her money-hungry father that she’s worth keeping around. Can you tell he’s not the most loving father around? Well, you’d be right. He’s pretty down right atrocious.
But Finn and Freya meet before they realize they’re rivals in the town square and develop a quick crush on one another. The town has announced a HUGE event that’s going to take place called:
They both enter – for very different – and quickly realize they are pitted against each other. But what I loved about Freya is that while she’s competitive and wants to win against Finn, she’s also a caring person and knows that he needs the prize money way more than she does. Finn wants the prize money to help his family’s Inn stay in business and Freya wants to win to prove something to her Father.
But anyways, the story revolves mostly around this competition and the two of them facing off against one another and always trying to one-up the other. But circumstances start to bring them together in more intimate settings and that initial attraction they had really keeps beating in the background. They’re both scared to explore this thing they’re feeling because they really do consider themselves pitted against one another.
All the feels in this book and the supporting characters in this quaint small town will have you laughing, maybe a few tears, and you’ll LOVE the donkey. Trust me. He’s adorable and has a personality all his own. But you’ll have to read it to find out.
