An ARC copy of this book was provided to me in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This was one of the fastest reads I’ve done in quite a while which should demonstrate how much I loved it. Paranormal romance books are a guilty pleasure of mine and this one hit all the high notes.

  • Relatable leading characters
  • Sense of humor
  • Attraction off the charts

I originally came across this one as part of a book tour and there is a giveaway for this one on Instagram RIGHT NOW if you want to enter to win a hardback copy of this one. But let me tell you more about what I loved.

First off, this IS a paranormal / fantasy story featuring a fae species that lives inside the human world but also features their home world and all the magic that comes along with it. You will be introduced to the kingdom, which our main man TORIN is the King and looking for a queen of his kingdom. He is hosting a special competition where the winner will be announced as his new queen and in turn bring the kingdom back into balance. Enter Ava who is an outcast fae that has spent her life living in the human world and wants nothing to do with her own kind. That is until she finally meets Torin in person and embarrassingly insults him.

She enters the competition and is heading back to her home world. A place where fae are anything but kind and even more brutal in this all-out war to be Queen. Ava is quick-witted, filled with humor and has a perfect outlook on life that carries you through the story. Comparitively, Torin is reserved and intense and when these two come together there are more sparks than you can handle.

This is BOOK 1 in a 2 BOOK series and after reading through this in only TWO DAYS, I am now anxiously awaiting the release of BOOK 2 – Ambrosia in January.

If you’re a fan of The Hunger Games or ACOTAR, than this is an easy one to guide you to that will keep your attention and warm your thoughts!

GET IT HERE:

On the worst birthday of my life, I come home to find my boyfriend in bed with another woman. Within hours, I’m drunk, homeless, and pledging to stay single forever. And that is when the dangerously sexy Seelie King rolls through town, looking for fae like me.

Every generation, the king holds a competition for Seelie queen. But for reasons he won’t explain, Torin is looking for a charade, not a real marriage. So when I drunkenly sling insults his way, I have his attention.

When Torin offers me fifty million to participate, I think, “What have I got to lose?” The answer turns out to be “my life,” because my competition will literally kill for the crown.

And the more time I spend with the seductive king, the harder it becomes to remember it’s all supposed to be fake. Now, my life—and my heart—are on the line.
