MY REVIEW:

Blue Marguerite is book 4 of 5 in The Painted Daisies series by LJ Evans and continues the intense journey of these 5 female band members who seem to keep finding themselves in harm’s way. While any of these books can be read as a Stand alone, you really should read them all from start to finish to fully understand the entire back story.

In this one, we meet the drummer Adria Rojas, daughter of one of the richest men in Columbia who seems to always be targeted by guerrilla militia groups that want him and his family removed. But no one realized the threats were coming from this close to home! Adria has had an on and off thing with Ronan Hawk, movie director and the same guy currently following the Daisies around to make a documentary about them. While Adria and Ronan clearly have a connection, Ronan made a mistake years ago that created a colossal wave between them both.

An intense journey ensues where Adria and Ronan are tangled further in the mystery of who killed their bandmate Landry, who is after Adria and her father and can they escape with their lives. I thought the first half felt a little slower in this one than I had gotten used to in this series, but I was blown away by the second half! Once all the pieces in the story get laid out it takes off really quickly from there. What I always love about Evans’ characters is how beautifully flawed they are and how well they come back together by complimenting those journeys of self realization.

An action packed romantic ride that has us nearly at the end of The Painted Daisies journey with only one book left to go!

I hope you’re enjoying your summer reading as much as I am! This is Book 1 of 20 in my #20BooksofSummer23 reading challenge!

She vowed to never forgive him…

A dynamic drummer must rely on the sexy director who shattered her heart in order to find her sister.

Once upon a time, Adria Rojas had it all―a budding romance, her music, and a whole family. Then in one year, her bandmate was murdered, her sister vanished, and the man she trusted humiliated her beyond forgiveness.

Now, the only way she keeps her head above water is by losing herself in her drums.

One stupid mistake led to the nightmare Ronan Hawk has spent years trying to rectify. Just as he’s given up on ever making things right with Adria, evidence in her sister’s kidnapping falls in his lap, bringing him back into her life.

She’s determined to keep him out of her heart and her bed, and every spark reigniting between them makes Ronan a distraction Adria can’t afford. Not if she intends to bring the group she believes responsible for killing her friend to justice and save her sister before it’s too late.

But Ronan isn’t going anywhere. Not while Adria is in danger. Not until she gives him a second chance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Writer’s Digest award-winning author LJ Evans writes achingly heartfelt slow-burns with deep, relatable characters, true friends, real “family”, and dreams remade on this wild ride called life.

She lives in Northern California with her husband, child, and the three terrors called cats. She’s been writing, almost as a compulsion, since she was a little girl and will often pull the car over to write when a song lyric strikes her. A former 1st-grade teacher, she now spends her free time reading and writing, as well as binge-watching original shows like Ted Lasso, Wednesday, Veronica Mars and Stranger Things.

If you ask her the one thing she won’t do, it’s pretty much anything that involves dirt—sports, gardening, or otherwise. But she loves to write about all of those things, and her first published heroine was pretty much involved with dirt on a daily basis. Which is exactly why LJ loves fiction novels—the characters can be everything you’re not and still make their way into your heart.
