I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Glow of the Everflame is the second book in a three book series & really focuses on self discovery & overcoming personal struggles. All of the characters go through a deep transition in their lives as potential futures & changes in society are realized by so many. But there is a war brewing between the humans & the Descended that rule over all the lands. Everyone will have to choose their sides & for some that decision is going to be even more complicated than they ever imagined.
As the second book in the Everflame series, there’s not too much that can be shared without giving away spoilers to the entire story. But the continued development of the characters & watching them go from book 1 to book 2, they have all come so far. There’s plenty of loss, emotional heart strings are pulled & overall you’re left with a shattered understanding of everything you think you knew was going to happen. Nothing is what it seems & everything is changing in the realm, but no one has any idea the trials they are facing & about to face as the saga continues in book 3.
I will forever adore the FMC Diem as she is an amazing character filled with strength. She endures more than you could ever imagine & she always tries to put others before herself. This is an attribute that I personally find endearing & she encompasses a real leader among people. The emotions are high in this one though as her love interests are shifting & she is faced with decisions & choices that she never thought she’d have to make.

An unexpected gift offers the power to change everything. Keeping it could cost Diem her life.
The threat of war has arrived at Diem’s doorstep, along with a new discovery that could save her people. To use it, she must survive the next thirty days by forming a devil’s bargain with the people she hates most: the royal family of House Corbois.
As she dives into the world of the Descended elite, Diem quickly realizes good and evil aren’t as simple as they seem. Old prejudices are challenged, and new loyalties blur the line between friend and foe.
Meanwhile, her mother is still missing, and the secrets she left behind can no longer be ignored—and neither can the Guardians and their demands. Caught between an old flame and a sizzling new spark, Diem must confront the truth about who she is and what she wants before time runs out.
War is coming, and dangerous enemies wait on all sides—but the most deadly battle Diem faces may be the one for her heart.
Glow of the Everflame is the second book in The Kindred’s Curse Saga, a four-book epic fantasy romance series that follows our fiesty, bad*ss heroine Diem Bellator in her fight against injustice and oppression, her struggle to survive in a royal palace full of betrayal and intrigue, and her journey of self-discovery and finding true love. This slow burn, enemies-to-lovers series is perfect for fans of unique magic systems, dragons and other mythical creatures, angst and romantic tension, and hilarious banter. This book will appeal to fans of plot-heavy, character-driven romantasy such as A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass, From Blood and Ash, Gild, Shadow & Bone, and The Serpent & the Wings of Night.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

HI! I’M PENN COLE
I’m a fantasy romance author preparing to publish my debut series, The Kindred’s Curse Saga, beginning June 1, 2023.
While my life has taken me through a lot of ups and downs, my love for reading and writing has forever been my true north. I’ve been writing stories since my childhood, filling mountains of notebooks with wild worlds and angsty romances. I received my undergraduate degree in Creative Writing, hoping to write the Next Great American Novel, but… well… we plan, Fate laughs. After a detour as an attorney and small business owner, I am thrilled to finally be pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming an author.
I’m a regular participant in NaNoWriMo, and I love meeting and supporting other new authors, especially female authors and BIPOC/LGBTQ+ authors. When I’m not writing, I love reading fantasy, rom coms, and non-fiction.
While I’m a Texas girl born and bred, I currently live in France with my husband, where I can usually be found sipping wine and creating fantasy worlds on my balcony.
