There’s something especially tender about a romance built on shared history – the kind where two people have loved each other quietly for years, even if they don’t yet have the courage to name it. Forget-Me-Nots for Felicity by Amy Newbold is exactly that kind of story: gentle, thoughtful, and deeply emotional in the most understated way. If you love slow-burn friends-to-lovers romances, meaningful letters, and stories where love grows patiently like a well-tended garden, this one may just steal your heart.

My Thoughts:
This was a very slow burn, pining from a distance kind of story and I absolutely adored the build-up! Silas and Felicity have known each other since they were children and now he is away in India learning and working. They keep up their communications through writing letters, but when the area he is in has an uprising, he has to survive and escape with his boss’s wife and children.
Through that experience, he has the most important realization of his life. How much he cares for Felicity and needs to tell her when he returns home. Felicity is a beautiful person, so engrossed in her love of flowers and painting them – all she wants is to attend the women’s art school. But her father forbids it.
When Silas returns, Felicity starts to face her own feelings for him as well. But they are both fighting the pull they have to one another even when it’s clear as day. Felicity tries to help Silas court another young woman, which only ends up driving her mad with sadness that she may be alone forever.
These two were some of the most well-behaved regency characters I’ve read in a while, but their charisma and love for life was what was most inspiring. They each compliment one another and support each other no matter what.
I also really enjoyed Felicity’s brother, Edmund. He is playful and wonderfully supportive of his sister, never leaving her on her own or feeling left out. I’d like to see more of these kind of supportive family dynamics. Felicity’s entire family was pretty amazing actually in how they support her. Even if her father puts his foot down a little about Felicity going to art school, he never denigrates her; not once.
A heart-warming friends to lover regency romance that had all the feels and left me hanging onto every page for them to get their happily ever after!

Publisher’s Blurb:
When every flower has a meaning, one bouquet will change everything.
Felicity Wixom forged a bond with her brother’s best friend, Silas Parker, when he gave her forget-me-nots as children. Now, Felicity dreams of attending art school in London, while Silas is building a career in India.
When the Great Mutiny forces Silas’s sudden return to England, his priorities have changed, and he intends to court Felicity. However, she does not respond to his subtle advances and, instead, suggests she help him woo another woman with carefully crafted floral messages. Everything is going according to plan until one disastrous bouquet, filled with messages Felicity never intended for him to send, threatens their friendship. As Felicity rushes to make amends, her love for Silas blossoms.
Now she must decide if revealing her true feelings is worth putting their friendship and her artistic dreams at risk.
A friends-to-lovers romance, Forget-Me-Nots for Felicity is part of the Victorian Valentines series, a collection of sweet, standalone novellas inspired by the Victorian Language of Flowers and full of swoon-worthy, kisses only romance.
Where to Buy:
If you’re in the mood for a romance that unfolds slowly, honors friendship, and celebrates love expressed through actions rather than grand declarations, Forget-Me-Nots for Felicity is a wonderful choice. It’s a story that lingers – soft, hopeful, and full of heart – and one that reminds us how powerful quiet love can be when it’s finally given room to bloom.
