My Thoughts:

Sadie has been living in Chicago, having left her family farm in hopes of earning enough extra money to send home and be the help to them she thought they needed. But what they really need is her back home helping with the day to day, not living in the big city. Her younger sister sends a telegram to inform her of her father’s ailments and Sadie can’t get home fast enough.

The train station is where it all begins. Sadie is travelling alone, a very dangerous feat, and while under threats from some hooligans at the station, Kellan shows up pretending to be her beau and saving her life. But he’s got his own challenges and is on the run from his Uncle. They decide to travel together aboard a ship where no one would suspect Kellan and Sadie isn’t even a passenger.

However, the ship comes under choppy waters and in the dangerous moments of the ship sinking, Sadie and Kellan save one another from certain death. Having survived such an ordeal, Sadie is convinced he must come home with her to heal from his injuries and she can take care of him.

But more than either of them is prepared for meets them at Sadie’s family farm. Their growing love for one another brings them together in ways they both needed. Kellan with his tumultuous past of losing those he loved and Sadie with never having felt this way about someone, their emotions are all over the place.

Her head shot up as his words bared her soul. He’d read her like a book, and she had no way to hide the truth from him.

I loved how many reminders this book held of God’s purpose and providence in making things happen. Both Sadie and Kellan shy away from this for a while, but eventually they realize how much all of this really means. Bringing them together in such a beautiful way!

A great story about giving ourselves over to the gifts from God and staying steadfast in our love for one another, Shipwrecked Faith brings a lot of elements together in a very beautiful way!
