My Thoughts:

I was on the edge of my seat for this entire book! Arabella is seeking a wealthy husband to try and pay her brother’s debt off before he is in real danger. A deadline is already looming and she’s desperate to find a wealthy husband, fast!

Clark and Colin Campbell are identical twins, but Colin is the heir and the focus of Arabella’s marriage plan to secure his wealth to save her brother. Colin decides to have his brother pretend to be him for a few weeks to lure Arabella in and teach her a lesson, since no one knows they are twins because Colin essentially disowned his brother. But nothing goes the way they expect it to!

I adored Arabella’s character. She is doing what she must to take care of her family, even if it means putting all of her own wishes and desires aside. But she’s also not easily played and the plan Colin and Clark have to teach her a lesson, isn’t as easy as they might have hoped. She is always skeptical and questioning of the intentions of “Mr. Campbell” because he suddenly starts acting like a very different person. Colin and Clark are as different as they can be. Colin is stern and serious all the time, while Clark is light-hearted and easygoing.

Not to mention that Clark falls for her, even when he knows he shouldn’t. Being the second-born son he has no wealth and cannot offer Arabella the one thing she desires, but when their hearts are in the mix, anything is possible! It was a really tense progression through this one because as a reader, I couldn’t easily discern how they would be able to be together and solve her financial woes.

I glanced at her scowling face again. A dark glare burned behind her eyes. She was beautiful when she was angry.

The core elements of this story circle around the drive that both Arabella and Clark have to find someone that appreciates them for who they are and not the things they have. Even Colin struggles with the same issues; being frustrated that the only attention he gets is by people who want access to his money. But social circumstances don’t make it easy for Clark and Arabella to be together, as they both need money to survive. Arabella’s situation is actually pretty dire, with her younger brother’s life being in danger over this debt he owes and conversely, Clark has been entirely dependent on his brother’s assistance until he starts on his own path of becoming a solicitor.

A beautiful story about finding love and letting all the noise fall by the wayside. Society is unrelenting in these circles, but happiness finds a way for these two lovebirds and forgiveness is at the forefront of this story. Giving Grace to those who ask for it and also giving it to ourselves.

Publisher’s Blurb:

She’s hunting a fortune. He’s impersonating one.

Miss Arabella Sharp is not a fortune hunter. She simply requires a rich husband. Urgently. Wealthy and unattached, Colin Campbell is exactly the sort of gentleman who could solve all her problems. But his twin, Clark…is exactly the sort of gentleman who could create an abundance of them.

When Clark Campbell’s recklessness nearly destroyed their family name, Colin paid the price to bury the scandal and restore their reputation. So when Arabella sets her sights on Colin’s fortune, he sees a chance to call in the favor his twin brother still owes him. The plan is simple: Clark must impersonate Colin and court her himself, exposing her as the fortune hunter she really is.

But the longer Clark plays the charming suitor, the more dangerously real it becomes. As gossip mounts and feelings grow, Clark and Arabella discover that the greatest risk isn’t scandal—it’s falling in love with the very person they were trying to deceive.
