As I’m getting into more and more reading of paranormal romances, I have to say I really enjoyed this one. I actually came across this on the Google eBook store and the picture caught my attention. The description snatched me and so I read away.

At first, I really didn’t like Selene. She seemed too focused on her mission – to kill the Vampire King – and there seemed to be little character there. But as the story went along, I realized that it was an essential piece of her character based on her background. She had been raised to think of nothing else and so it made sense that she has such a single minded focused.

Lucius was amazing. He is everything you expect in a good Dom. He’s stern and demanding, but cares so sweetly for his little pet. The BDSM elements of this novel were well covered and I enjoyed reading and watching how Selene and Lucius come to care for each other. Even though they both have reservations from the very beginning.

The biggest piece I really didn’t care much for was that the vampires still had the old-time need to stay out of the sun, sleeping in crypts and the sarcophagus. But it all supported the story line and arc’s so it works even though I’m a proponent of more varied vampire pitfalls.

A great paranormal romance read with lots and lots of steamy sections and BDSM appropriately adhered to. I especially loved the emphasis on consent in all aspects of Lucius’s life, not just with his pet.
