MY REVIEW:

My first romance book of 2023 and the first of many to come this year! J. Saman hits it out of the park with this grumpy to sunshine CEO that meets his match. Zaxton Monroe is a wealthy man; former member of a famous band with his best friends and now CEO of his family’s fashion company. But losing the love of his life 8 years ago has left him angry and jagged at the world. That is until he meets his previous step-sister, now grown up, like a girl-in-the-rough to Cinderella. It’s all he can think about. Wanting her. But not wanting to ever hurt the way he did before.

“I have never wanted anyone the way I want you, Aurelia, and that’s what’s hurting my soul.”

Irresistibly Broken, J. Saman

Aurelia Sage has had a tough life. Always being used by those closest to her, including her own mother who left her alone at 16 when she realized her daughter’s pretty face would take away would-be rich suitors for her mom to hustle. Now Aurelia is grown up and building her fashion ideas and finds herself working at Monroe’s company.

“It’s funny when a moment hits you. When you’re going about your day and your life and then something comes out of nowhere and plows through you, knocking your world sideways in such a position where you know never again will it fully be how it was before. Those words were my utter undoing. The final thread to pull in my unraveling.”

Irresistibly Broken, J. Saman

J. Saman always amazes me with her ability to build intensity through an entire book where I’m ravenous for the big moments. Reading and waiting for things to get to the cliff points and watching the characters develop in their narrative with one another is why I love her books so much! Aurelia and Zaxton are the perfect combination of harsh quips, humor without borders and an intensity of love that keeps you hooked through every single page!

Zaxton Monroe is rich, powerful, infuriatingly gorgeous, and thinks I’m working for him to ruin his life. Problem is, he might not be wrong.

Zaxton
Aurelia Whitlock is an ex-stepsister I forgot long ago. Until she shows up as a design intern at my fashion company. And that’s the easy part.

The part where she stirs my lifeless blood, drawing me away from my soulless, miserable side is another.

She has no business being here. Her presence far from a coincidence, the more I learn of her secrets and troubled past, the more perilous things become for me.
I can’t trust her. I can’t fire her. And I can’t claim her full lips with mine.

Now it’s a keep your friends close and your enemies even closer situation. Except keeping this stunning woman who surprises me at every turn close isn’t as easy as it sounds.

She’s a delicious load of sunshine wrapped in smiles and enticing laughter. And did I mention the mouth on her? The one that challenges me and calls me the worst sort of names. The one I can’t stop staring at or fantasizing about.

I’m in trouble. So much trouble. My former bandmates, my brothers in arms and blood, well, they’re at just as much of a loss as I am on how to fix this. So where does that leave me?

In one hell of a mess with a woman who has the power to destroy everything. Including what’s left of my heart.
