MY REVIEW:

As part of the first stop on the Blog Tour for THEY LIE HERE by NS Ford and hosted by The Write Reads, I’m really excited to share this one with you all!

It follows the story of Kat Green. She’s a unique blogger and researcher who essentially hunts down celebrities that seem to have faded into the background. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding her personally as we quickly learn she’s not in any form of contact with her family and that something happened when she was younger. But we don’t know quite what happened until much later on.

This is the creepy air in the introduction to the story. But it doesn’t stop there and Kat quickly finds herself entrenched deeper and deeper into her new obsession. Finding the elusive and unheard from member of a 1980’s band.

What I liked most about Kat’s character was the simple way she goes about life. Nothing about her is ordinary at all, and she compartmentalizes everything she does and won’t allow herself to think too deeply about anything that relates to her own self reflection.

This is how you can immediately tell that there’s something kind of off about her. She writes on her blog and hunts down these celebrities by moving from city to city with barely anything personal; buys up only the things she needs to conduct her research; then when she’s done she moves on to the next thing starting the process all over again.

An eerie and gripping novel that had me from the start with it’s unique prologue and shifting chapters between present time perspective of the main character and third person perspectives of the band she’s researching from 1984 and 1985.
